Who We Are
The Journey is a Wesleyan Church and part of the Chesapeake District of the Wesleyan Church
The Wesleyan Church is an evangelical, Protestant denomination. We offer the good news that faith in Jesus Christ makes possible a wonderful personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by His Holy Spirit for witness and service, and assurance of eternal life in heaven. Our ministries emphasize practical Bible teaching, uplifting worship, and special programs to meet a variety of life needs. With World Headquarters in Fishers, Indiana, The Wesleyan Church has nearly 400,000 constituents in 5,000 churches and missions in 80 countries of the world. Formed in 1968 resulting from the mergers of several like-minded groups, dating back as far as 1843, The Wesleyan Church has its roots in John Wesley's Methodism. |

Beliefs
We believe in one God, beside whom there is no other, who has chosen to reveal Himself to us in three persons as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – the Trinity.
We believe that people are made in the image of God, but because of our fall into sin, we display the universal tendency toward rebellion, active or passive, against God. We believe that Jesus Christ is uniquely the Son of God and is God’s true revelation of Himself in human form, and in His virgin birth, sinless life, death, resurrection, and promised return is the only true hope of eternal life. We believe that our most urgent need is to enter into a personal relationship with God. We believe Christ died for all men and women and none of us can receive the true eternal life except through believing in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead. We believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit, it is possible to live as holy people with a heart and an attitude that models the heart of God. We believe in the afterlife – that all humans will be resurrected some day and there is heaven or hell as our final destination. We believe in the church – the collective group of Christian believers, and we believe God works through this collective “body”on earth to help Christians guide and direct each other to live in this present age. We believe that the Bible is inerrant and is uniquely, divinely inspired; that it is accurate and is our trustworthy guide for faith and practice. We believe that believers are called to holy living as a daily life-style, which is made possible through the active work of the Holy Spirit – God’s invisible presence today on earth – in the believer’s life. |
